Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter IX, § 2. Maximal tori of compact Lie groups

Let t\mathfrak{t} and t′\mathfrak{t}' be Cartan subalgebras of g,a\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{a} a subset of t\mathfrak{t}, and uu an automorphism of g\mathfrak{g} that takes a\mathfrak{a} into t′\mathfrak{t}'. There exists an element vv of Int(g\mathfrak{g}) such that u∘vu\circ v takes t\mathfrak{t} to t′\mathfrak{t}', and coincides with uu on a\mathfrak{a}.

Put G = Int(g\mathfrak{g}), and consider the fixer ZG(a)Z_G(\mathfrak{a}) of a\mathfrak{a} in G; this is a Lie subgroup of G, whose Lie algebra zg(a)\mathfrak{z}_{\mathfrak{g}}(\mathfrak{a}) consists of the elements of g\mathfrak{g} that commute with every element of a\mathfrak{a} (Chap. III, §9, no. 3, Prop. 7). Then t\mathfrak{t} and u−1(t′)u^{-1}(\mathfrak{t}') are two Cartan subalgebras of the compact Lie algebra zg(a)\mathfrak{z}_{\mathfrak{g}}(\mathfrak{a}). By Th. 1, there exists an element vv of ZG(a)Z_G(\mathfrak{a}) such that v(t)=u−1(t′)v(\mathfrak{t}) =u^{-1}(\mathfrak{t}'); any such element has the desired properties.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
