Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter IX, § 7. Irreducible representations of connected compact Lie groups

The group G has a (finite dimensional) faithful linear representation.

Observe first that every element of X(T) is equal to the difference of two dominant weights: more precisely, let ϖ\varpi be an element of X++X_{++} such that ⟨ϖ,Kα⟩>0\langle \varpi , K_{\alpha}\rangle >0 for every simple root α\alpha; for all λ∈X(T)\lambda \in X(T) there exists a positive integer nn such that ⟨λ+nϖ,Kα⟩≥0\langle \lambda +n\varpi , K_{\alpha}\rangle \geq 0 for every simple root α\alpha, that is (no. 1, Lemma 11)λ+nϖ∈X++\lambda +n\varpi \in X_{++}.

Consequently, there exists a finite family (λi)i∈I(\lambda_i)_{i\in I} of elements of X++X_{++} generating the Z\mathbf{Z}-module X(T). For i∈Ii\in I, let τi\tau_i be an irreducible representation of G of highest weight λi\lambda_i (Th. 1); let the representation τ\tau be the direct sum of the τi\tau_i. By construction the set P(τ,T)P(\tau ,T) of weights of τ\tau (relative to T) generates the Z\mathbf{Z}-module X(T). It now follows from Prop. 6 of §4, no. 3 that the homomorphism τ\tau is injective, hence the corollary.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
