Commutative Algebra, chapter III, § 1. Finitely generated graded algebras
Let , be a graded commutative ring with positive degrees and the graded ideal, .
(i) The following conditions are equivalent: (a) The ideal is a finitely generated A-module. (b) The ring is a finitely generated A,-module.
(ii) Suppose that the conditions in (i) hold and let be a finitely generated graded A-module. Then, for all , is a finitely A,-module and there exists such that for .
(i) If a family of elements of A is a system of generators of the A-module m (resp. of the A,-module A), so is the family consisting of the homogeneous components of the ; the equivalence of conditions (a) and (b) then follows from Proposition 1.
(ii) We may suppose that A is generated (as an A,-algebra) by homogeneous elements () of degree and M is generated (as an A-module) by homogeneous elements (); let . Clearly M, consists of the linear combinations with coefficients in of the elements such that the are integers satisfying the relation ; for each there is only a finite number of families satisfying these conditions, since for all ; we conclude that is a finitely generated A,-module and moreover clearly when .
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
