Commutative Algebra, chapter III, § 2. General results on filtered rings and modules

Let AA be a filtered ring, EE a filtered AA-module and (An)(A_n) and (En)(E_n) the respective filtrations on AA and EE. Suppose that AA is complete and the filtration (En)(E_n) is exhaustive and separated. Let (xi)i∈I(x_i)_{i \in I} be a finite family of elements of EE and for i∈Ii \in I let n(i)n(i) be an integer such that xi∈En(i)x_i \in E_{n(i)}; finally let ξi\xi_i be the class of xix_i in grn(i)(E)\mathrm{gr}_{n(i)}(E). Then, if (ξi)(\xi_i) is a system of generators of the gr(A)\mathrm{gr}(A)-module gr(E)\mathrm{gr}(E), (xi)(x_i) is a system of generators of the AA-module EE.

In the AA-module L=A′L = A', let L0L_0 denote the set (ai)(a_i) such that ai∈An−n(i)a_i \in A_{n - n(i)} for all i∈Ii \in I; if pp and qq are the least and greatest of the n(i)n(i), then An−qI⊃L0⊃An−pIA^I_{n-q} \supset L_0 \supset A^I_{n-p} and the topology defined on LL by the definition (Ln)(L_n) is the same as the product topology; hence LL is a complete filtered AA-module. As LL is free, there exists an AA-linear mapping u:L→Eu : L \to E such that u((ai))=∑i∈Iaixiu((a_i)) = \sum_{i \in I} a_i x_i and it is obviously compatible with the filtrations; we must prove that uu is surjective and for this it is sufficient, by virtue of Corollary 2 to Theorem 1, no. 8, to show that

gr(u):gr(L)→gr(E) \mathrm{gr}(u) : \mathrm{gr}(L) \to \mathrm{gr}(E)

is surjective or also that, for all x∈Enx \in E_n, there exist a family (ai)(a_i) such that ai∈An−n(i)a_i \in A_{n-n(i)} for all i∈Ii \in I and x≡∑i∈Iaixi(modEn+1)x \equiv \sum_{i \in I} a_i x_i \pmod{E_{n+1}}. Let ξ\xi be the class of xx in grn(E)\mathrm{gr}_n(E); since the ξi\xi_i generate the gr(A)\mathrm{gr}(A)-module gr(E)\mathrm{gr}(E), there exist αi∈gr(A)\alpha_i \in \mathrm{gr}(A) such that ξ=∑i∈Iαiξi\xi = \sum_{i \in I} \alpha_i \xi_i and we may assume that αi∈grn−n(i)(A)\alpha_i \in \mathrm{gr}_{n-n(i)}(A) by replacing if need be αi\alpha_i by its homogeneous component of degree n−n(i)n - n(i). Then αi\alpha_i is the image of an element ai∈An−n(i)a_i \in A_{n-n(i)} and the family (ai)(a_i) has the required property.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
