Commutative Algebra, chapter III, § 3. m-adic topologies on Noetherian rings

Let AA be a Noetherian ring and mm an ideal of AA such that AA is Hausdorff and complete with respect to the m-adic topology. Let EE be a filtered AA-module over the filtered ring AA, the filtration (En)(E_n) of AA being such that E0=EE_0 = E and EE is Hausdorff with respect to the topology defined by (En)(E_n). Then the following conditions are equivalent: (a) EE is a finitely generated AA-module and (En)(E_n) is an m-good filtration. (b) gr(E)\mathrm{gr}(E) is a finitely generated gr(A)\mathrm{gr}(A)-module. (c) For all n≥0n \geq 0, grn(E)\mathrm{gr}_n(E) is a finitely generated AA-module and there exists n0n_0 such that for n≥n0n \geq n_0 the canonical homomorphism

gr1(A)⊗Agrn(E)→grn+1(E) \mathrm{gr}_1(A) \otimes_A \mathrm{gr}_n(E) \to \mathrm{gr}_{n+1}(E)
is surjective.

It follows immediately from the definitions that (a) implies (c). The fact that (b) implies (c) is a consequence of § 1, no. 3, Lemma 1; conversely, if (c) holds, clearly gr(E)\mathrm{gr}(E) is generated as a gr(A)\mathrm{gr}(A)-module by the sum of the grp(E)\mathrm{gr}_p(E) for p≤n0p \leq n_0 and hence by hypothesis admits a finite system of generators. It remains to prove that (c) implies (a); as the grn(E)\mathrm{gr}_n(E) are finitely generated and En=EE_n = E, clearly first, by induction on nn, E/EnE/E_n is a finitely generated AA-module for all nn; it will therefore be sufficient to prove that, for n>n0n > n_0, EnE_n is a finitely generated AA-module and that mEn=En+1mE_n = E_{n+1}. Now, consider the AA-module En+1E_{n+1} with the exhaustive and separated filtration (En+k)(k≥1)(E_{n+k})(k \geq 1); mEn⊂En+1mE_n \subset E_{n+1}; hypothesis (c) implies that the image of mEnmE_n in grn+1(E)=En+1/En+2\mathrm{gr}_{n+1}(E) = E_{n+1}/E_{n+2} is equal to grn+1(E)\mathrm{gr}_{n+1}(E) and generates the graded gr(A)\mathrm{gr}(A)-module gr(En+1)\mathrm{gr}(E_{n+1}). As grn+1(E)\mathrm{gr}_{n+1}(E) is by hypothesis a finitely generated AA-module, it follows from § 2, no. 9, Proposition 12 that mEn=En+1mE_n = E_{n+1} and that En+1E_{n+1} is a finitely generated AA-module.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
