Commutative Algebra, chapter IV, § 2. Primary decomposition

Let AA be a Noetherian ring and MM an AA-module. The following conditions are equivalent: (a) Ass⁡(M)\operatorname{Ass}(M) is reduced to a single element.

(b) M≠0M \neq 0 and every homothety of MM is either injective or almost nilpotent (§1§ 1, no. 4). If these conditions are fulfilled and pp is the set of a∈Aa \in A such that the homothety aMa_M is almost nilpotent, then Ass⁡(M)={p}\operatorname{Ass}(M) = \{p\}.

This follows immediately from §1§ 1, no. 4, Corollary to Proposition 9 and no. 1, Corollary 2 to Proposition 2.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
