Commutative Algebra, chapter VI, § 5. The topology defined by a valuation

Let EE be a left topological vector space over KK which is Hausdorff and of dimension 1. Suppose that vv is not improper. For all x0≠0x_0 \neq 0 in EE, the mapping a↦ax0a \mapsto ax_0 of KsK_s onto EE is a topological isomorphism.

This mapping is a continuous algebraic isomorphism. It is sufficient to show that it is bicontinuous. Let α∈G\alpha \in G. We need to show that there exists a neighbourhood VV of 0 in EE such that the relation ax0∈Vax_0 \in V implies v(a)>av(a) > a. Let a,∈K∗a, \in K^* be such that v(a0)=av(a_0) = a. As EE is Hausdorff, there exists a neighbourhood WW of 0 in EE such that a0x0∉Wa_0x_0 \notin W. As vv is not improper, there exist a neighbourhood W′W' of 0 in EE and an element β\beta of GG such that the relations y∈W′y \in W', v(a)≥βv(a) \geq \beta imply ay∈Way \in W. Let a,∈K∗a, \in K^* be such that v(a1)=−βv(a_1) = -\beta. The relations ax0∈a1−1W′ax_0 \in a_1^{-1}W' and v(a)≤av(a) \leq a imply a1ax0∈Wa_1ax_0 \in W and v(a0a−1a1−1)=α+β−v(a)≥βv(a_0a^{-1}a_1^{-1}) = \alpha + \beta - v(a) \geq \beta and hence a0x0=a0a−1a1−1(a1ax0)∈Wa_0x_0 = a_0a^{-1}a_1^{-1}(a_1ax_0) \in W, which is absurd; in other words, the relation ax,∈a1−1Wax, \in a_1^{-1}W implies v(a)>av(a) > a.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
