Algebra, chapter I, § 5. Groups operating on a set

Let GG be a group. An operation of GG on a set EE is called simply transitive if there exists an element xx of EE such that the orbital mapping defined by xx is a bijection. A set EE, together with a simply transitive left action of GG on EE, is called a left homogeneous principal GG-set (or left homogeneous principal set under GG).

It amounts to the same to say that GG operates freely and transitively on EE, or also that there exists an element x∈Ex \in E such that the orbital mapping defined by xx is an isomorphism of the GG-set GG (where GG operates by left translation) onto EE; or also that the two following conditions are satisfied:

(i) EE is non-empty. (ii) for all elements xx and yy of EE, there exists one and only one element α∈G\alpha \in G such that αx=y\alpha x = y.

Condition (ii) is also equivalent to the following condition:

(iii) the mapping (α,x)↦(αx,x)(\alpha, x) \mapsto (\alpha x, x) is a bijection of G×EG \times E onto E×EE \times E.

We leave to the reader the task of defining right homogeneous principal G-sets.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
