Algebra, chapter II, § 7. Vector spaces

Every finitely generated A-module is of finite rank.

Note that the converse of this corollary is not necessarily true; for example Q\mathbf{Q} is a Z\mathbf{Z}-module of rank 1 but is not finitely generated over Z\mathbf{Z}.

Recall (§ 5, no. 1) that for every linear mapping f:E→E′f : E \to E' (where EE and E′E' are AA-modules), f(K)f_{(K)} denotes the KK-linear mapping 1K⊗f:E(K)→E(K)′1_K \otimes f : E_{(K)} \to E'_{(K)}.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
