Algebra, chapter III, § 10. Derivations

Let AA be a graded KK-algebra of type Z\mathbf{Z}; a graded linear KK-mapping of degree 0, d:A→Ad : A \to A, is defined by taking, for xn∈An(n∈Z)x_n \in A_n (n \in \mathbf{Z}), d(xn)=nxnd(x_n) = nx_n. This mapping is a derivation of AA, since, for xp∈Ap,xq∈Aqx_p \in A_p, x_q \in A_q,

d(xpxq)=(p+q)xpxq=d(xp)xq+xpd(xq). d(x_p x_q) = (p + q)x_p x_q = d(x_p)x_q + x_p d(x_q).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
