Algebra, chapter IV, § 1. Polynomials

— Let u∈A[X]u \in \mathbf{A}[\mathbf{X}] be a homogeneous polynomial of degree r ; we have

∑i∈IXi⋅Diu=ru. \sum_{i \in I} X_i \cdot D_i u = ru.

Let D be the A-linear mapping of A[X]A[X] into itself such that D(v)=svD(v) = sv when v is homogeneous of degree s. We know (III, p. 554, Example 6) that D is a derivation of A[X]A[X]. Thus Prop. 6 is a Corollary of Prop. 4 (IV, p. 6).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
