Algebra, chapter V, § 3. Algebraic extensions

— Let AA be an algebra over a field KK. For an element xx of AA to be algebraic over KK it is necessary and sufficient that the subalgebra K[x]K[x] of AA generated by xx should be of finite degree over KK. In particular, if AA is of finite degree over KK, every element of AA is algebraic over KK.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
