Algebra, chapter V, § 3. Algebraic extensions

— Let L be an extension of K and E, F subextensions of L. If F is algebraic over K, the subring K[E,F]K[E, F] of L generated by E∪FE \cup F is a field coinciding with E(F)E(F) and algebraic over E.

For each element of FF, being algebraic over KK, is also algebraic over EE (VV, p. 17, Cor. 2) hence E(F)E(F) is an algebraic extension of EE, and we have E(F)=E[F]E(F) = E[F] by Cor. 1.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
