Algebra, V, p. 45, § 7. Separable algebraic extensions

— 1) When EE is algebraic and of infinite degree over KK, the condition E=K(Ep)E = K(E^p) does not always ensure that EE is separable over KK. For example, if KK is imperfect and EE is a perfect closure of KK, then we have E=K(Ep)E = K(E^p) but EE is not a separable extension of KK (VV, p. 39, Cor. 3). 2) Let EE a separable algebraic extension of a field KK of characteristic exponent pp. Then we have Ep∩K=KpE^p \cap K = K^p (Cor. 2); therefore if EE is perfect, the same is true of KK.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
