Algebra, chapter V, § 9. Conjugate elements and quasi-Galois extensions

— *Let EE be an extension of KK. Then EE is said to be quasi-Galois or normal (over KK), if it is algebraic and if every irreducible polynomial of K[X]K[X] which has at least one root in EE, splits into a product of polynomials of degree 1 (distinct or not) in E[X]E[X].

If EE is an algebraic closure of KK, it is a quasi-Galois extension of KK; for the condition (AC) of Prop. 1 (VV, p. 19) asserts that every non-constant polynomial in E[X]E[X] is a product of polynomials of degree 1.*

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
