Algebra, chapter V, § 13. p-radical extensions of height _ 1
— Let K be a field, L a p-radical extension of height of K and S, T two subsets of L. The following conditions are equivalent: a) The subset S is p-free over K and T is p-free over K(S). b) and S U T is p-free over K. If T is p-free over K(S), we have and a fortiori . We may therefore assume S and T disjoint. Let A be the subset of consisting of all families with for all , and define subsets of and of in similar fashion. We can in a natural way, identify with , and then A is identified with . For put , and similarly define and for and . We have for in . Moreover generates the vector K-space K(S) (V, p. 94, Prop. 1). For S U T to be p-free over K it is necessary and sufficient that the family should be free over K (V, p. 98, Prop. 1); it comes to the same (II, p. 222) to suppose that the family is free over K and the family free over K(S). Now the equivalence of a) and b) follows from Prop. 1 (V, p. 98).
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
