Topological Vector Spaces, chapter I, § 2. Linear varieties in a topological vector space
— In a topological vector space , every hyperplane is either closed or everywhere dense.
In fact, the closure of a homogeneous hyperplane can only be or the whole space , since it is a vector subspace containing (prop. 1).
A hyperplane is closed in if, and only if, contains an interior point.
The vector subspace generated by a set , in a topological vector space , is the set of linear combinations of points of (A, II, § 1.7, prop. 9); the closure of in is, by prop. 1, the smallest closed vector subspace containing ; we say that this is the closed vector subspace generated by .
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
