Topological Vector Spaces, chapter II, § 4. Locally convex spaces

— In the last example, the topology induced by T\mathscr{T} on EKE_K is identical with TK\mathscr{T}_K, since by definition it is coarser than TK\mathscr{T}_K and, since T\mathscr{T} is finer than Tu\mathscr{T}_u, the topology induced by T\mathscr{T} on EKE_K is finer than that induced by Tu\mathscr{T}_u, that is to say TK\mathscr{T}_K.

This reasoning generalises immediately to an inductive limit of locally convex topologies (Tα)(\mathscr{T}_\alpha) when there is a locally convex topology T′\mathscr{T}' on E such that Tα\mathscr{T}_\alpha is the topology induced on EαE_\alpha by T′\mathscr{T}'.

More generally one can ask, when we suppose that Eβ⊂EαE_\beta \subset E_\alpha and Tβ\mathscr{T}_\beta is the topology induced by Tα\mathscr{T}_\alpha, under what circumstances T\mathscr{T} induces Tα\mathscr{T}_\alpha on each of the EαE_\alpha. In general this is not so (II, p. 80, exerc. 26); but we shall see in the Nos following two important situations where this does occur.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
