Topological Vector Spaces, II, p. 30, § 4. Locally convex spaces

A locally convex topology T\mathscr{T} on EE is the direct sum of the topologies of the EiE_i, if and only if, the following property holds: a linear mapping of EE in a locally convex space GG (resp. a semi-norm pp on EE) is continuous, if and only if, for every i∈Ii \in I, the mapping g∘fig \circ f_i (resp. p∘fip \circ f_i) is continuous in EiE_i.

This is a particular case of prop. 5, II, p. 27.

Recalling the definition of the direct sum of a family of vector spaces (A, II, p. 12, prop. 6), we can say that the topology T\mathscr{T} is the only one for which the canonical mapping g↦(g∘fi)g \mapsto (g \circ f_i) is a bijection

L(E;G)→∏i∈IL(Ei;G) \mathscr{L}(E; G) \to \prod_{i \in I} \mathscr{L}(E_i; G)

for every locally convex space GG.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
