Topological Vector Spaces, II, p. 31, § 4. Locally convex spaces
Let be a subspace of , for every ,
(i) The topology induced on by the direct sum topology on is identical with the direct sum of the topologies of the .
(ii) The canonical mapping of the topological direct sum space of the on (A, II, § 1.6, formula (26)) is an isomorphism between topological vector spaces.
(i) With the notations introduced above, we consider belonging to ( is a family of numbers of which at most finitely many are non-zero, such that , and , for all ). Since the sum of the is direct, we have for all ; therefore, for all such that we also have , and belongs to the convex envelope , thus (i) is proved.
(ii) Denote canonical mappings as follows: and . For every , and the proposition follows from II, p. 28, cor. 2 and p. 29 Example I.
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
