Topological Vector Spaces, II, p. 32, § 4. Locally convex spaces

Suppose that the topology induced on EnE_n by Tn+1\mathscr{T}_{n+1} is identical with Tn\mathscr{T}_n for every integer nn. Then (i) The topology induced by T\mathscr{T} on EnE_n is identical with Tn\mathscr{T}_n for each nn; if the Tn\mathscr{T}_n are Hausdorff then T\mathscr{T} is Hausdorff. (ii) If, for every nn, EnE_n is closed in En+1E_{n+1} (for Tn+1\mathscr{T}_{n+1}), then EnE_n is closed in EE (using T\mathscr{T}) for every nn. (iii) If each EnE_n is complete (using Tn\mathscr{T}_n) then EE is complete using T\mathscr{T}.

(i) To prove the first assertion, it is sufficient to prove that the topology Tn′\mathscr{T}'_n induced by T\mathscr{T} on EnE_n is finer than Tn\mathscr{T}_n. For this, let VnV_n be a convex neighbourhood of 00 in EnE_n for the topology Tn\mathscr{T}_n; we are going to construct an increasing sequence of convex neighbourhoods of 00 in En+pE_{n+p} for Tn+p\mathscr{T}_{n+p}, say (Vn+p)p≥1(V_{n+p})_{p \geq 1}, such that Vn+p∩En=VnV_{n+p} \cap E_n = V_n for every index p≥1p \geq 1. Then the union VV of the increasing sequence (Vn+p)(V_{n+p}) will be a convex set such that V∩EkV \cap E_k is a neighbourhood of 00 in EkE_k (using Tk\mathscr{T}_k), for every index kk; therefore VV will be a neighbourhood of 00 in EE for T\mathscr{T} and as V∩En=VnV \cap E_n = V_n, we have proved that Tn′\mathscr{T}'_n is finer than Tn\mathscr{T}_n.

To define the Vn+pV_{n+p} we proceed by induction on pp using the following lemma:

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
