Topological Vector Spaces, chapter II, § 6. Weak topologies

— Let (Fi,Gi)i∈I(F_i, G_i)_{i \in I} be a family of pairs of spaces in duality. Let F=∏i∈IFiF = \prod_{i \in I} F_i be the product space of the FiF_i and G=⨁i∈IGiG = \bigoplus_{i \in I} G_i be the direct sum of the GiG_i. If, for all x=(xi)∈Fx = (x_i) \in F and all y=(yi)∈Gy = (y_i) \in G, we write ⟨x,y⟩=∑i∈I⟨xi,yi⟩\langle x, y \rangle = \sum_{i \in I} \langle x_i, y_i \rangle (a sum which has only finitely many non-zero terms) then the topology σ(F,G)\sigma(F, G) (relative to the bilinear form (x,y)↦⟨x,y⟩(x, y) \mapsto \langle x, y \rangle) is the product of the topologies σ(Fi,Gi)\sigma(F_i, G_i).

For, given a topology T\mathscr{T} on FF; in order that, for all y∈Gy \in G, the linear form x↦⟨x,y⟩x \mapsto \langle x, y \rangle should be continuous for T\mathscr{T}, it is necessary and sufficient, by the definition of ⟨x,y⟩\langle x, y \rangle, that each of the mappings x↦⟨pr⁡ix,yi⟩x \mapsto \langle \operatorname{pr}_i x, y_i \rangle should be continuous for T\mathscr{T}, where ii is arbitrary in II and yiy_i in GiG_i; but this means that each of the mappings pr⁡i\operatorname{pr}_i of FF in FiF_i is continuous for T\mathscr{T} and for σ(Fi,Gi)\sigma(F_i, G_i) (I, p. 10, cor. 1); this completes the demonstration.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
