Topological Vector Spaces, IV, p. 26, § 3. Dual of a Fréchet space
Let E and F be two locally convex metrizable spaces, and u be a continuous linear mapping from into F. Then there exists a neighbourhood U of 0 in whose image under u is bounded in F.
Let (resp. ) be a fundamental system of neighbourhoods of 0 in E (resp. F). We assume that the sets are balanced and form a decreasing sequence. Since u is continuous, for every , there exists a bounded set in E such that . Since is bounded, there exists a real number such that . Put .
We shall prove that the set B is bounded in E, in other words that for every integer , there exists a real number such that . Since the sets are bounded, there exists a real number such that and such that for ; we have also if ; hence since is balanced.
Let U be the polar of B in . This is a neighbourhood of 0 in and we have , hence for all . Consequently is bounded in F.
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
