Topological Vector Spaces, chapter V, § 2. Orthogonal families in a hilbertian space

— Let E be a hilbertian space and I a set of indices. Let ℓE2(I)\ell^2_E(I) denote the external hilbertian sum of the family (Ei)i∈I(E_i)_{i \in I} where Ei=EE_i = E for all i∈Ii \in I. In other words, ℓE2(I)\ell^2_E(I) is the space of all families x=(xi)i∈Ix = (x_i)_{i \in I} of elements of E such that ∑i∈I∥xi∥2<+∞\sum_{i \in I} \|x_i\|^2 < +\infty, endowed with the scalar product ⟨x∣y⟩=∑i∈I⟨xi∣yi⟩\langle x|y \rangle = \sum_{i \in I} \langle x_i|y_i \rangle (space of square summable families of elements of E indexed by I). We put ℓ2(I)=ℓK2(I)\ell^2(I) = \ell^2_K(I).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
