Topological Vector Spaces, V, p. 20, § 2. Orthogonal families in a hilbertian space

Let E be a Hausdorff prehilbertian space, (Vi)i∈I(V_i)_{i \in I} a family of vector subspaces of E such that for every pair of distinct indices i,ki, k, the subspaces ViV_i and VkV_k are orthogonal. Then, for every k∈Ik \in I, the intersection of VkV_k and of the closed vector subspace WkW_k generated by the union of the ViV_i for all i≠ki \neq k reduces to 0 for, if xx belongs to VkV_k and also to WkW_k, then it is orthogonal to all the ViV_i for i≠ki \neq k, hence to WkW_k. In particular, xx is orthogonal to itself, hence is zero.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
