Integration, chapter II, § 1. Riesz spaces and fully lattice-ordered spaces

— Let aa be an element of a fully lattice-ordered space EE, BaB_a the band generated by aa, Ba′B'_a the band of elements alien to aa. For every element x⩾0x \geqslant 0 of EE, the component of xx in BaB_a (for the decomposition of EE as the ordered direct sum of BaB_a and Ba′B'_a) is equal to sup⁡n∈N(inf⁡(n∣a∣,x))\sup_{n \in \mathbf{N}} (\inf(n|a|, x)).

This follows from Proposition 6, applied to M={a}M = \{a\}, and Proposition 5.

Note that the bands generated by aa and ∣a∣|a| are identical. If aa and bb are two elements of EE that are alien to each other, and if AA and BB are the bands generated by aa and bb, respectively, then every element of AA is alien to every element of BB; for, bb belongs to the band A′A' of elements alien to aa, whence B⊂A′B \subset A', and, by Theorem 1, every element of AA is alien to every element of A′A'.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
