Integration, chapter IV, § 4. Integrable functions and sets

For every integrable function f∈LF1f \in \mathscr{L}^1_F, ∣f∣|f| is integrable and

∫∣f∣ d∣μ∣=∫∗∣f∣ d∣μ∣=N1(f). \int |f|\, d|\mu| = \int^* |f|\, d|\mu| = N_1(f).

We shall make frequent use of Prop. 1 and its Cor. 1, on replacing ∫∗f d∣μ∣\int^* f\, d|\mu| or N1(f)N_1(f) by ∫f d∣μ∣\int f\, d|\mu| when dealing with an integrable function ⩾0\geqslant 0. For example, for two integrable functions f,gf, g to be equivalent, it is necessary and sufficient that ∫∣f−g∣ d∣μ∣=0\int |f - g|\, d|\mu| = 0.

We recall that, for a function ff to belong to LFp\mathscr{L}^p_F, it is necessary and sufficient that the function ∣f∣p−1⋅f|f|^{p-1} \cdot f belong to LF1\mathscr{L}^1_F (§ 3, No. 8, Cor. 1 of Th. 7), that is, that it be integrable; this is the reason for the terminology 'p-th power integrable function'. Moreover:

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
