Integration, chapter IV, § 4. Integrable functions and sets

— Let G\mathscr{G} be a set, directed for the relation ⊂\subset, of integrable open sets in XX; for A=⋃G∈GGA = \bigcup_{G \in \mathscr{G}} G to be integrable, it is necessary and sufficient that sup⁡G∈G∣μ∣(G)<+∞\sup_{G \in \mathscr{G}} |\mu|(G) < +\infty, in which case μ(A)=lim⁡Gμ(G)\mu(A) = \lim_\mathscr{G} \mu(G) and ∣μ∣(A)=sup⁡G∈G∣μ∣(G)|\mu|(A) = \sup_{G \in \mathscr{G}} |\mu|(G).

For, one knows that ∣μ∣∗(A)=sup⁡G∈G∣μ∣(G)|\mu|^*(A) = \sup_{G \in \mathscr{G}} |\mu|(G) (\§1, No. 2, Prop. 7); the proposition therefore follows from Prop. 10.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
