Integration, chapter IV, § 5. Measurable functions and sets

— If FF is metrizable, and AA is the union of a locally μ\mu-negligible set and a sequence (An)(A_n) of μ\mu-integrable sets, then the space S(A,μ;F)S(A, \mu; F) is metrizable.

Since each AnA_n is the union of a negligible set and a sequence of compact sets, we can suppose that the AnA_n are already compact and pairwise disjoint. Prop. 17 then allows us to suppose that AA is compact. If (Vn)(V_n) is a countable fundamental system of entourages of FF, it is clear that the W(Vn,A,1/n)W(V_n, A, 1/n) form a fundamental system of entourages of S(A,μ;F)S(A, \mu; F) as nn runs over N\mathbf{N}, whence the proposition.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
