Integration, V, p. 62, § 6. Images of a measure
Let be a -measurable mapping of into a locally compact space . The following two properties are equivalent:
a) for every function , is essentially -*integrable*.
b) for every compact set , is essentially -*integrable*.
We have just observed that a) implies that the pair is -adapted. Consequently (§ 4, No. 4, Th. 2), for every compact set , the function , where , is essentially -integrable, in other words, a) implies b).
Conversely, suppose that is essentially -integrable for every compact subset of , and let us show that a) is verified. Indeed, let be the support of ; since is compact, setting we have, by hypothesis,
Since is -measurable (Ch. IV, § 5, No. 3, Th. 1), we see that is essentially -integrable (§ 1, No. 3, Prop. 9).
Property b) is obviously equivalent to the following (which is therefore also equivalent to a)):
c) For every point of , there exists a neighborhood of such that is essentially -*integrable*.
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
