Integration, VI, p. 40, § 3. Disintegration of measures
*If Y is a locally compact space with a countable base, the space contains a countable dense subset. More precisely, there exists in a countable subset S consisting of functions , such that, for every function of , there exists a sequence of functions () that converges uniformly to and is such for all .
For, Y is the union of an increasing sequence of relatively compact open sets such that for all (GT, I, §9, No. 9, Prop. 15); the space is the union of the increasing sequence of Banach spaces , and each of the latter is known to be separable (GT, Ch. X, §3, No. 3, Th. 1). Let be a countable dense set in , the set of functions for , and a function in , with values in and equal to 1 on . We take for S the union of the and the set of for and integers . For every function of , has support contained in one of the , hence is the uniform limit of a sequence of functions (). These functions are uniformly bounded by a positive integer , and it suffices to take .*
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
