Integration, chapter VII, § 1. Construction of a Haar measure

For every α∈A\alpha \in A, let μα\mu_\alpha be a positive measure on GαG_\alpha. Suppose that φβα(μα)=μβ\varphi_{\beta\alpha}(\mu_\alpha) = \mu_\beta for α≥β\alpha \geq \beta. Then, there exists one and only one positive measure μ\mu on GG such that φα(μ)=μα\varphi_\alpha(\mu) = \mu_\alpha for all α∈A\alpha \in A.

Uniqueness follows immediately from Lemma 2 b). Let us prove the existence of μ\mu. Let VV be the vector space of functions belonging to K(G)\mathscr{K}(G) and constant on the cosets of some KαK_\alpha (α\alpha may depend on the function). It follows from Lemma 2 a) that VV satisfies the condition (P) of Ch. III, §1, No. 7, Prop. 9: for, let KK be a compact set in GG and choose f∈K+(G)f \in \mathscr{K}_+(G) with f(x)>0f(x) > 0 for all x∈Kx \in K; let a>0a > 0 be the smallest value of ff on KK; by Lemma 2 a), there exists a function g∈V∩K+(G)g \in V \cap \mathscr{K}_+(G) such that ∣f−g∣≤a/2|f - g| \leq a/2, therefore g(x)>0g(x) > 0 for all x∈Kx \in K, and condition (P) is verified. Let f∈Vf \in V. There exists an α∈A\alpha \in A such that ff is constant on the cosets of KαK_\alpha. By passage to the quotient, ff defines a function fα∈K(Gα)f_\alpha \in \mathscr{K}(G_\alpha). The number μ(f)=μα(fα)\mu(f) = \mu_\alpha(f_\alpha) does not depend on the choice of α\alpha: for, let β\beta be any index such that ff is constant on the cosets of KβK_\beta; let γ∈A\gamma \in A be such that γ≥α,γ≥β\gamma \geq \alpha, \gamma \geq \beta; then ff defines functions fβ∈K(Gβ)f_\beta \in \mathscr{K}(G_\beta), fγ∈K(Gγ)f_\gamma \in \mathscr{K}(G_\gamma) such that f=fβ∘φβ=fγ∘φγf = f_\beta \circ \varphi_\beta = f_\gamma \circ \varphi_\gamma; then fα∘φαγ=fγf_\alpha \circ \varphi_{\alpha\gamma} = f_\gamma, therefore μγ(fγ)=(φαγ(μγ))(fα)=μα(fα)\mu_\gamma(f_\gamma) = (\varphi_{\alpha\gamma}(\mu_\gamma))(f_\alpha) = \mu_\alpha(f_\alpha), and similarly μγ(fγ)=μβ(fβ)\mu_\gamma(f_\gamma) = \mu_\beta(f_\beta), whence our assertion. This established, it is clear that μ\mu is a linear form on VV and that μ(f)≥0\mu(f) \geq 0 for f≥0f \geq 0. By Prop. 9 of Ch. III, §1, No. 7, μ\mu may be extended to a positive measure on GG, which we again denote by μ\mu. One has φα(μ)=μα\varphi_\alpha(\mu) = \mu_\alpha for all α∈A\alpha \in A by the very construction of μ\mu.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
