Integration, VIII, p. 10, § 2. Linear representations of groups

Let G be a topological group, U a linear representation of G in a normed space E, and A a dense subset of E. Assume that for every s∈Gs \in G, U(s)U(s) is continuous, and that, for every x∈Ax \in A, s↦U(s)xs \mapsto U(s)x is a continuous mapping of G into E. Then the function s↦g(s)=∥U(s)∥s \mapsto g(s) = \|U(s)\| on G is lower semi-continuous and satisfies g(st)⩽g(s)g(t)g(st) \leqslant g(s)g(t).

Let B be the unit ball of E. Then g(s)=sup⁡x∈B∩A∥U(s)x∥g(s) = \sup_{x \in B \cap A} \|U(s)x\|, and each function s↦∥U(s)x∥s \mapsto \|U(s)x\| is continuous on G, therefore gg is lower semi-continuous. On the other hand,

g(st)=∥U(s)U(t)∥⩽∥U(s)∥⋅∥U(t)∥=g(s)g(t). g(st) = \|U(s)U(t)\| \leqslant \|U(s)\| \cdot \|U(t)\| = g(s)g(t).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
