Integration, chapter IX, § 2. Operations on measures

— Let K be a compact subspace of T, i the canonical injection of K into T, and λ\lambda a measure on K; since i is continuous and λ\lambda is bounded, i is λ\lambda-proper. Formula (3) of §1, No. 3 shows that the "measure on T defined by λ\lambda" is the image measure i(λ)i(\lambda).

Remark 5). — If θ\theta is a real measure and π\pi is θ\theta-proper, then π\pi is proper for the measures θ+\theta^+ and θ−\theta^-; one then sets π(θ)=π(θ+)−π(θ−)\pi(\theta) = \pi(\theta^+) - \pi(\theta^-). If θ\theta is a complex measure and π\pi is θ\theta-proper, then π\pi is proper for the real measures ℜ(θ)\Re(\theta) and ℑ(θ)\Im(\theta); one then sets

π(θ)=π(ℜ(θ))+iπ(ℑ(θ)). \pi(\theta) = \pi(\Re(\theta)) + i \pi(\Im(\theta)).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
