Integration, IX, p. 73, § 6. Promeasures and measures on a locally convex space

*Let EE be a locally convex space. The mapping λ↦λ~\lambda \mapsto \widetilde{\lambda} is a bijection of the set of bounded measures on EE onto the set of promeasures (μV)V∈F(E)(\mu_V)_{V \in \mathscr{F}(E)} on EE satisfying the following condition:

For every ε>0\varepsilon > 0, there exists a compact subset KK of EE such that μV(E/V−pV(K))≤ε\mu_V(E/V - p_V(K)) \leq \varepsilon for all V∈F(E)V \in \mathscr{F}(E).*

One knows that the intersection of the kernels of the continuous linear forms on EE is equal to 0 (TVS, II, § 4, No. 1, Cor. 1 of Prop. 2); consequently ⋂V∈F(E)V={0}\bigcap_{V \in \mathscr{F}(E)} V = \{0\} and the family (pV)V∈F(E)(p_V)_{V \in \mathscr{F}(E)} is coherent and separating. The proposition then follows from Th. 1 of § 4, No. 2.

In particular, the mapping λ↦λ~\lambda \mapsto \widetilde{\lambda} is injective. If μ\mu is a promeasure on EE, and if there exists a bounded measure λ\lambda on EE such that μ=λ~\mu = \widetilde{\lambda}, we shall say, by an abuse of language, that μ\mu is a measure. If EE is finite-dimensional, every promeasure μ=(μV)V∈F(E)\mu = (\mu_V)_{V \in \mathscr{F}(E)} is a measure: for, {0}∈F(E)\{0\} \in \mathscr{F}(E), E/{0}=EE/\{0\} = E and pV,{0}=pVp_{V,\{0\}} = p_V, whence μV=pV(μ{0})\mu_V = p_V(\mu_{\{0\}}) for all V∈F(E)V \in \mathscr{F}(E); in other words, μ=λ~\mu = \widetilde{\lambda} with λ=μ{0}\lambda = \mu_{\{0\}}.

(1) Also called a 'projective system'.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
