Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter I, § 6. Semi-simple Lie algebras

Let g, g′g' be two Lie algebras, r and r′r' their radicals and f a homomorphism of g onto g′g'. Then r′=f(r)r' = f(r).

As f(r)f(r) is solvable, f(r)⊂r′f(r) \subset r'. On the other hand, g/rg/r is semi-simple (§ 5, no. 2, Proposition 3), hence g′/f(r)g'/f(r), which is isomorphic to a quotient of g/rg/r, is semi-simple (Lemma 1) and hence f(r)⊃r′f(r) \supset r' (§ 5, no. 2, Proposition 3).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
