Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter I, § 6. Semi-simple Lie algebras

Let gg be a Lie algebra, ρ\rho a semi-simple representation of gg on a finite-dimensional vector space VV, TT and SS the tensor and symmetric algebras of VV and σT\sigma_T, σS\sigma_S the representations of gg on TT and SS canonically derived from ρ\rho. Then σT\sigma_T and σS\sigma_S are semi-simple and, more precisely, direct sums of finite-dimensional simple representations.

Let TnT^n be the subspace of TT consisting of the homogeneous tensors of order nn. This subspace is stable under σT\sigma_T and the representation defined by σT\sigma_T on TnT^n is semi-simple (Corollary 1). Hence the corollary for σT\sigma_T and therefore for σS\sigma_S, which is a quotient representation of σT\sigma_T.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
