Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter II, § 2. Free Lie algebras

Let y∈Xy \in X. The free Lie algebra L(X)L(X) is the direct sum of the free submodule K.yK.y and the Lie subalgebra admitting as basic family the family of ((ad y)n,z)((\mathrm{ad}\ y)^n, z) where n⩾0n \geqslant 0 and z∈X−{y}z \in X - \{y\}.

It suffices to put S={y}S = \{y\} in Proposition 10.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
