Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter III, § 9. Commutators, centralizers and normalizers in a Lie group

Let GG be a finite-dimensional connected nilpotent Lie group over R\mathbf{R} or C\mathbf{C} and AA an integral subgroup of GG. Then ZG(A)Z_G(A) is the connected Lie subgroup of GG with Lie algebra zG(L(A))\mathfrak{z}_G(L(A)).

By Proposition 9 of no. 3 it suffices to prove that ZG(A)Z_G(A) is connected. Let g∈ZG(A)g \in Z_G(A). There exists x∈L(G)x \in L(G) such that g=exp⁡xg = \exp x (Proposition 14). Then Ad g∣L(A)=1\mathrm{Ad}\, g|L(A) = 1 (no. 3, Proposition 9), hence Ad gn∣L(A)=1\mathrm{Ad}\, g^n|L(A) = 1 for all n∈Zn \in \mathbf{Z} and hence exp⁡(ad nx)∣L(A)=1\exp(\mathrm{ad}\, nx)|L(A) = 1 for all n∈Zn \in \mathbf{Z}. As the mapping

λ↦exp⁡(ad λx)∣L(A) \lambda \mapsto \exp(\mathrm{ad}\, \lambda x)|L(A)

of KK into L(L(A),L(G))\mathscr{L}(L(A), L(G)) is polynomial, exp⁡(ad λx)∣L(A)=1\exp(\mathrm{ad}\, \lambda x)|L(A) = 1 for all λ∈K\lambda \in K, that is exp⁡(λx)∈ZG(A)\exp(\lambda x) \in Z_G(A) for all λ∈K\lambda \in K.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
