General Topology, chapter I, § 11. Connectedness

If xx is any point of XX, there is a distinguished pair (W,U)(W, U) such that x∈Wx \in W.

The inverse image p‾−1(p(x))\overline{p}^{-1}(p(x)) is discrete and therefore there is a neighbourhood of xx in XX all of whose points x′x' other than xx have an image p(x′)≠p(x)p(x') \neq p(x); since XX satisfies (OIII)(O_{III}), there is a closed neighbourhood VV of xx with this property, and we may assume also that VV is contained in a set of B\mathfrak{B}. Let FF be the frontier of VV in XX. By condition (i) of the theorem, p(F)p(F) is closed in YY; and since p(F)p(F) does not contain p(x)p(x), there is a set U∈BU \in \mathfrak{B} which contains p(x)p(x) and does not meet p(F)p(F). Let WW be the component of xx in p‾−1(U)\overline{p}^{-1}(U); then it is enough to show that W⊂AW \subset A. If this were not so, then WW would meet FF (no. 1, Proposition 3) and therefore p(F)p(F) would meet UU, contrary to the definition of UU.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
