General Topology, chapter I, § 11. Connectedness

Let XX be locally compact, connected and locally connected, and suppose each point of XX has a neighbourhood which has a countable base. Let YY be a Hausdorff space whose topology has a countable base, and let p:X→Yp : X \to Y be a continuous mapping such that, for each y∈Yy \in Y, p‾−1(y)\overline{p}^{-1}(y) is a discrete subspace of XX. Then the topology of XX has a countable base.

For each x∈Xx \in X, let VxV_x be a compact neighbourhood of xx in XX which has a countable base. It follows from §9§ 9, no. 4, Theorem 2, Corollary 2, that the set B\mathfrak{B} of the VxV_x satisfies the conditions of Theorem 1, and we complete the proof as in Corollary 1.

Notice that, in this corollary, it can happen that the restriction of pp to an arbitrarily small neighbourhood VV of a point of XX is not a homeomorphism of VV onto p(V)p(V).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
