General Topology, chapter I, § 11. Connectedness

Let XX be a topological space satisfying axiom (OIII)(O_{III}) (but not necessarily Hausdorff), and suppose XX is connected and locally connected. Let YY be a topological space whose topology has a countable base, and let p:X→Yp : X \to Y be a continuous mapping such that, for each y∈Yy \in Y, p‾−1(y)\overline{p}^{-1}(y) is a discrete subspace of XX. Finally let B\mathfrak{B} be a set of subsets of XX whose interiors cover XX and such that: (i) The restriction of pp to each V∈BV \in \mathfrak{B} is a closed mapping of VV into YY. (ii) Every V∈BV \in \mathfrak{B} has a countable subset which is dense in VV.

Then the space XX is the union of a countable family of open sets each of which is contained in a set of B\mathfrak{B}.

Let B\mathfrak{B} be a countable base of the topology of YY. We shall say that a pair (W,U)(W, U) is distinguished if (i) U∈BU \in \mathfrak{B} and (ii) WW is a component of p‾−1(U)\overline{p}^{-1}(U) contained in a set of B\mathfrak{B}.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
