General Topology, chapter II, § 2. Uniformly continuous functions

Let XX be a set, let (Yi)i∈I(Y_i)_{i \in I} be a family of uniform spaces, and for each i∈Ii \in I let fif_i be a mapping of XX into YiY_i. Let ff be the mapping x→(fi(x))x \to (f_i(x)) of XX into Y=∏i∈IYiY = \prod_{i \in I} Y_i, and let UU be the coarsest uniformity on XX for which the fif_i are uniformly continuous. Then UU is the inverse image under ff of the uniformity induced on f(X)f(X) by the product uniformity on YY.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
