General Topology, chapter VI, § 3. Real projective spaces

In a projective space Pn\mathbf{P}_n (n≥0n \geq 0), the complement of a projective hyperplane H\mathbf{H} is homeomorphic to Rn\mathbf{R}^n.

By making a projective linear transformation we may assume that H\mathbf{H} is the hyperplane whose equation is x0=0x_0 = 0. The set AA of points x=(xi)x = (x_i) of Rn+1∗\mathbf{R}_{n+1}^* such that x0≠0x_0 \neq 0 is open and saturated with respect to Δn\Delta_n; its canonical image CC in Pn\mathbf{P}_n, which is the complement of H\mathbf{H} in Pn\mathbf{P}_n, is therefore homeomorphic to the quotient of AA by the equivalence relation Θ\Theta induced on AA by Δn\Delta_n (Lemma 1). Let BB be the hyperplane whose equation is x0=1x_0 = 1 in Rn+1\mathbf{R}^{n+1}. To each point x∈Ax \in A let correspond the point x0−1xx_0^{-1} x where the line through 00 and xx cuts BB (Fig. 4); in this way we define a continuous mapping gg of AA onto BB such that g(x)g(x) is the only point of BB congruent to xx modulo Θ\Theta. It follows that BB is homeomorphic to A/ΘA/\Theta (Lemma 2), hence to CC; since BB is homeomorphic to Rn\mathbf{R}^n, the proof is complete.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
