General Topology, chapter IX, § 3. Metrizable groups, valued fields, normed spaces and algebras

Let G,G′G, G' be two metrizable abelian topological groups; let u:G→G′u : G \to G' be a strict morphism with kernel NN and image PP. Then u^:G^→G^′\hat{u} : \hat{G} \to \hat{G}' is a strict morphism with kernel N^\hat{N} and image P^\hat{P}.

Let u=j∘v∘pu = j \circ v \circ p be the canonical factorization of uu, where vv is an isomorphism of the topological group G/NG/N onto the topological group u(G)=Pu(G) = P. We have u^=j^∘v^∘p^\hat{u} = \hat{j} \circ \hat{v} \circ \hat{p}, and we have seen that p^\hat{p} is the canonical mapping of G^\hat{G} onto G^N^\hat{G}\hat{N}, and that j^\hat{j} is the canonical mapping of P^\hat{P} into G^\hat{G}. On the other hand, v^\hat{v} is an isomorphism of G^/N^\hat{G}/\hat{N} onto P^\hat{P} (Chapter III, § 3, no. 4, Proposition 5), whence the result.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
