General Topology, chapter IX, § 3. Metrizable groups, valued fields, normed spaces and algebras

In a normed space EE, a family (xi)(x_i) of points of EE is said to be absolutely summable if the family (∣∣xi∣∣)(||x_i||) of norms of the xix_i is summable in R\mathbf{R}.

This concept appears to depend on the norm chosen on EE; but by Proposition 7 of no. 3 and the comparison principle for summable families of real numbers, a family which is absolutely summable with respect to a norm pp on EE is absolutely summable with respect to any norm on EE which is equivalent to pp.

If (xi)i∈I(x_i)_{i \in I} is a family of points of EE which is summable and absolutely summable, we have

∥∑i∈Ixi∥≤∑i∈I∥xi∥. \left\| \sum_{i \in I} x_i \right\| \leq \sum_{i \in I} \|x_i\|.

Indeed, for each finite subset JJ of II we have ∥∑i∈Jxi∥≤∑i∈J∥xi∥\left\| \sum_{i \in J} x_i \right\| \leq \sum_{i \in J} \|x_i\|, and the inequality (4) follows by passing to the limit with respect to the directed set of finite subsets of II.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
