General Topology, chapter IX, § 3. Metrizable groups, valued fields, normed spaces and algebras

Let KK be a valued division ring and let K′K' be a subfield of the centre of KK such that the trace on K′K' of the absolute value ∣x∣|x| of KK is not the improper absolute value on K′K'. Then KK, with ∣x∣|x| as norm, is a normed algebra over K′K'.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
