General Topology, chapter X, § 3. Special function spaces

Let X,Y,ZX, Y, Z be three normed spaces over KK. The bilinear mapping (u,v)→v∘u(u, v) \to v \circ u of L(X;Y)×L(Y;Z)\mathscr{L}(X; Y) \times \mathscr{L}(Y; Z) into L(X;Z)\mathscr{L}(X; Z) is continuous.

For if u∈L(X;Y)u \in \mathscr{L}(X; Y) and v∈L(Y;Z)v \in \mathscr{L}(Y; Z) we have

∣∣v∘u∣∣≤∣∣u∣∣⋅∣∣v∣∣, ||v \circ u|| \leq ||u|| \cdot ||v||,
since for all x∈Xx \in X we have ∣∣v(u(x))∣∣≤∣∣v∣∣⋅∣∣u(x)∣∣≤∣∣v∣∣⋅∣∣u∣∣⋅∣∣x∣∣||v(u(x))|| \leq ||v|| \cdot ||u(x)|| \leq ||v|| \cdot ||u|| \cdot ||x|| by reason of (2).

In particular, on the set L(X)\mathscr{L}(X) of continuous endomorphisms of a normed space XX over KK, the norm ∣∣u∣∣||u|| is compatible with the KK-algebra structure of L(X)\mathscr{L}(X).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
