General Topology, chapter X, § 3. Special function spaces
Let be three topological spaces such that is Hausdorff and is locally compact. Then the restriction to of the canonical bijection (Set Theory, R, § 4, no. 14) is a homeomorphism of onto .
This restriction is certainly a bijection
by Theorem 3; it remains therefore to be shown that the compact-open topology on is the inverse image under of the compact-open topology on . Since the sets , where is a compact subset of and is an open subset of , form a subbase of the topology of , it follows from Remark 2 that the topology of is generated by the sets of the form , where and are as above and is a compact subset of . Now the image of under is precisely , and is therefore an open set; so we have shown that is continuous. To prove that is a homeomorphism, we note first that the sets of the form in (where is a compact subset of , and is a compact subset of ) satisfy the condition (R) of Remark 2: for if is a compact subset of and is a neighbourhood of in , the projections , are compact, since and are Hausdorff and is a neighbourhood of in the compact space , so that every point of has a neighbourhood in of the form , where and are compact; since can be covered by a finite number of these neighbourhoods, the assertion is proved. Therefore sets of the form , where is a compact subset of , a compact subset of and an open subset of , generate the topology of . But we have already seen that the image of under is the open set in ; hence is a homeomorphism.
Note that if in addition is assumed to be uniformizable, Corollary 2 is a trivial consequence of § 1, no. 4, Proposition 2.
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
