Algebra, VIII, p. 47, § 3. Simple Modules

Let A be a ring, M and N two A-modules, and ff a nonzero homomorphism from M to N.

a) If M is simple, then ff is injective.

b) If N is simple, then ff is surjective.

c) If M and N are simple, then ff is an isomorphism.

The kernel of ff is a proper submodule of M, and the image of ff is a nonzero submodule of N.

a) If M is simple, then we have Ker(ff) =0= 0, so ff is injective.

b) If N is simple, then we have Im(ff) =N= N, so ff is surjective.

c) If M and N are simple, then ff is both injective and surjective.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
